The Perraja baby sling is put over one shoulder, on the other hip and tied with a knot. A small baby lies in
front of you and an older baby or toddler sits on your hip and can also be moved to your front or on your back. Perrajas originate from Middle
America. From £18.50 (standard length).
In size 1 (picture on the left), size 2 or 3 (see below).
A Perraja makes a lovely baby sling. Our Perrajas come in several sizes. Size one and two have a very pretty
fringe. Woven in 100% cotton, the colours vary from vibrant to muted. When ordering, just state your colour preferences and whether you prefer
blocks or stripes.
The standard length (size 1) is about 9’4". This is the best choice if you are of average length and weight or
less and you want to use it in the six sling positions. £18.50
Size 2 Perrajas are about 10’ long, suitable for larger people. This is long enough to be
used for supporting your abdomen when you are pregnant (ask for instructions). You can still use it in the six sling positions but you might need
tuck away the ends. For smaller people the position on the back, as shown in this picture, is also possible. £21.25
Size 3 Perraja's are around 11’9" long (and wider). This Perraja is used differently. There are two upright
positions possible for small or medium sized people, one in front and the same on the back (see picture). It is not very suitable for the six
sling positions as you will then have a lot of excess material to cope with. £37.80
We strive to keep the traditional carriers from Guatemala in stock, two kinds of which you can see in the first two
photographs. They are brightly multicoloured or black and white and made from 100% cotton. The pompons are made of varying material. These slings
are very short and thick and although made to be used for carrying babies (and other loads) they are not so suitable for most people because of
their size. But they make very nice shawls. £27.20
Shown here is a brightly multicoloured traditional Perraja without pompons.
